Evangelism

Chairperson: Mr. Edward Hickman
 Vice-Chairperson: VACANT

The Mission

To enable people to share Christ’s love with others in our daily lives while helping people grow in their relationship with Christ.

The Vision

To share the word of God, outside the walls of Wesley Chapel, while encouraging the entire congregation to focus on taking Christ to the unchurched or dechurched.

The Purpose

The gift of evangelism is the gift of faith-sharing and proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ to those we meet. Evangelism is primarily a one-to-one or small group experience, grounded in building relationships with others and inviting them to make a decision for Christ. We do not force our faith on others, but offer a relationship with God as a gift, and are ready to tell the story of God and Christ in their own lives.

Jesus said to Paul after their meeting on the Damascus road

Acts 26:16-18 - King James Version (KJV)

16. But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;

17. Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,

18. To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

So the footprint of Evangelism is clear, we are to:

To Go and Tell Anyone that will listen

The first thing we need to understand is that Christ wants for us to go out and tell, not just wait for others to come and see.

To Open the Eyes of Unbelievers

The second thing Christ wants to accomplish in our witness is the opening of the eyes of unbelievers.

That unbelievers turn from darkness to light - darkness isn't strange until your eyes are opened.

The third thing that Christ aims to accomplish through our testimony is that unbelievers turn  from Satan to the POWER of  God. The only power Satan has over us is through deception.

To Be Granted Forgiveness and a Place in the Body of Christ

The fourth thing that Christ aims to accomplish through our testimony that the unchurched will receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Christ.
