Mission Statement

The mission of the Usher Board ministry is a commitment of dedicated service for the glorification of God by making worship at Wesley Chapel a comforting, peaceful and safe experience.

Ministry Goals/Aim/Purpose

The Usher Board ministry follows a handbook that outlines various duties and responsibilities of the Usher. In it, it describes that even in the early church the need for ushers was apparent.

“So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, ‘It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our attention to prayer and ministry of the word’. This proposal pleased the whole group” (Acts 6:2-5).

The Usher Board duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Preparing for the arrival of worshippers
  2. Making visitors and members feel welcome
  3. Handling large crowds and restless children
  4. Coping with emergencies
  5. Ushering at funerals and special services
  6. Serving in any capacity as deemed necessary by the Pastor for the smooth and orderly flow of the worship service.

How does the ministry serve the community

The Usher Board ministry seeks to serve all who enter the church. The Usher Board may accompany the Pastor and/or choir and perform ushering duties in other churches as invited.
